Missing from our team photo is Alan Kearny. From left to right front row is Martin Zabaleta, Carlos Buhler. Back row is Lhakpa Dorje Sherpa, (Sirdar), and our three Sherpa staff members whose names I unfortunately cannot remember.
From about 7000 meters on the SW Ridge of Cho Oyu, one can clearly make out the splendid peaks of the Rowaling Himal. From left to right, Menlungtse, Guarisankar, and lower down to the right, under the horizon ridge, the pyramid of Milarepa.
Martin holds a Basque Flag on the summit of Cho Oyu. Behind him on his right, one can clearly see the Northwest Face, West Ridge and Southwest Face of Mt. Everest. To its south, one sees the West Face of Lhotse dropping into the Western Cum.
The Polish 1986 Southwest Ridge route runs from the summit down to the right.
