Outdoor Ambassador

In 1988 Carlos became involved with Ron Gregg, creator and owner of Outdoor Research, the high quality, outdoor accessories producer in Seattle, Washington. Carlos became one of the early outdoor industry ambassadors and "gear testers" bringing the growing and evolving Outdoor Research, Inc. much sought after design innovation and real world feedback for the development of products being offered on the market. In the early nineties, he joined Marmot as an ambassador and Design Board member, advancing innovation and futuristic thinking in their outdoor apparel and the soft goods sector. Carlos shared his product design, outdoor industry knowledge and photography skills with footwear specialist, Tecnica, and later consulted with snow shoe manufacturer Tubbs Snow Shoes on design and retail marketing projects. Today, Carlos works closely with Lowa Boots, C.A.M.P. Outdoor Equipment, Lorpen Socks, Blue Water Ropes, Osprey Packs and Nite Ize headlamps. Paralleling his outdoor industry ambassador career, Carlos joined the Board of Directors of Lending Promise, (www.lendingpromise.org) a 501 (c) (3) organization that gives micro credit loans to mothers striving to create small, income producing businesses in rural Nepal.  Since the early 2000's, he gives many hours of his time to the Gorkha Foundation (www.gorkhafoundation.org), a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, grassroots organization, whose mission is "to support initiatives that reduce poverty and inequality by making sustainable improvements to the living conditions of the poor and marginalized in the Gorkha region of Nepal."
